Multi-lineal

Multi-Lineal is conceived as a multi-generational home for a family of three nuclear units. On a
compact 2,900 sqft plot, the design accommodates 12 rooms with a total GFA of 5,400 sqft. The
project represents the firm’s exploration of density within the micro scale of a landed house,
questioning how generosity of space can still be achieved in a highly efficient footprint.

The architectural strategy reimagines ‘landed housing’ by weaving greenery into the vertical fabric of
the home. A series of gardens are introduced along the front façade across multiple levels, with each
family unit enjoying its own patch of landscape. These gardens not only provide visual respite but
also serve as social thresholds—spaces where members can encounter one another and share
moments, while still retaining privacy within their own units. In this way, the house resists the
apartment-like stratification common in many multi-generational homes in Singapore.

Inside, the layout balances connection and retreat. Shared living and dining areas encourage
interaction, fostering a sense of extended family life, while the bedrooms function as intimate sanctuaries. Multi-Lineal is thus both dense and open, urban and domestic—a study in reconciling
multiplicity within one dwelling.
