The house faces a public green but also the west. To allow the view and yet protect it from the sun, motorised timber screens­ – which can be moved when needed ­­– are used. The timber screens have a subtle pattern of varying depths and heights to create a sense of movement. Inside, the theme is carried through in the staircase, which is also wrapped by a vertical timber screen.
