Part of the client's brief was to make this temple highly visible, especially at night. Sited on a knoll, the building is designed as a glazed box. Lighted at night, it is like a Chinese lantern. To overcome the heat load problem, deeply overhanging roofs at various levels shade the glass. This also recalls the traditional typology of these type of buildings. The worship space is very well ventilated and bright - a refreshing departure from the commonly smoke filled and dimly lit interiors of similar buildings. |
