This award winning corporate headquarters and operational centre for the then newly established telecommunications company takes on the challenge of creating a “high-tech, high-touch” ambiance for staff and visitors alike. With the innovative use and combination of materials and details, it won the 6th Singapore Institute of Architects Interior Architecture Award for commercial interiors.
The large floor plate at StarHub Centre (35,000 square feet) revolves around a circulation spine which doubles as an exhibition gallery for corporate advertising. All workstations are in clusters of 2, 4, 5 & 6, encouraging teamwork & group dynamics. Centred in each department is a semi-enclosed meeting “pod”, each of which has a different shape in order to create individual identities for the departments. The board rooms are designed as a series of warm timber horizontal planes with perforated beech paneling. A delicately framed steel and tempered glass balustrade staircase connects the 2 floors.
